Marc 4

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marc 4 (also: I Marc 4 ) was an Italian quartet that played jazz and beat in the 1970s .

The name was based on the initials of the members: Maurizio Majorana ( bass ), Antonello Vannucchi, ( Hammond organ / piano ), Roberto Podio ( drums / percussion ) and Carlo Pes ( guitar ). Occasionally the "A" also stood for Armando Trovaioli, an Italian film music composer. I Marc 4 recorded most of his compositions. The quartet has also worked for well-known composers such as Ennio Morricone and Piero Umiliani .

In 1968, before the founding of their group under their own name, Pes, Vannucchi, Majorana and Podio played together with Alessandro Alessandroni and Giulia De Mutiis (vocals) for the soundtrack of the film Svezia, inferno e paradiso (German: Sweden - Hell or Paradise? ) An improvised piece for Piero Umiliani, which under the title Mah Nà Mah Nà became his greatest international success.
