Marc Almert

Marc Almert (* 1991 in Cologne ) is a German sommelier . On March 15, 2019, after Markus Del Monego, he became the second German to win the World Championship of the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI) in the Koningin Elisabethzaal in Antwerp .

Career

Almert comes from a family where moderate wine was consumed. He completed his International Baccalaureate at St. George's School in order to subsequently train as a hotel manager and bartender. During this time he discovered his love for wine. From 2012 he worked as a junior sommelier at Restaurant duck of the Hotel Nassauer Hof Wiesbaden and the Brenner's Park-Hotel Baden-Baden, about two years later, the two-star - Haerlin of the Hotel Fairmont Vier Jahreszeiten to switch to Hamburg.
