Marc Smerling
Marc Smerling (* before 1996) is a screenwriter , film producer and film director who was awarded an Emmy .
Career
Smerling's film career began in 1996 with The Score ... Bootleg Versions , where he was responsible as a producer and made his directorial debut. For the documentary he produced, Capturing the Friedmans , he and director Andrew Jarecki received an Oscar nomination at the 2004 Academy Awards in the category of “best documentary”. Smerling wrote the screenplay for Jarecki's crime film All Beauty Must Die with Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst in the leading roles. Smerling received a Primetime Emmy and a PGA Award for the six-part documentary series Der Unglücksbringer: The Life and Death of Robert Durst .
