Marcel Bruinsma (born June 21, 1986 in Abbotsford , British Columbia , Canada ) is a former Canadian - Dutch ice hockey player who won the Dutch championship and the Dutch cup competition with HYS The Hague .

Career

Marcel Bruinsma, who was born in British Columbia as the son of Dutch ancestors , began his career as a hockey player in his Canadian homeland, where he was drawn in 2001 by the Kamloops Blazers in the 8th round of the WHL Bantam Draft as the 145th player, but never signed . Instead, he played for various clubs in the lower class British Columbia Hockey League , where he was captain of the Langley Hornets from 2003 to 2006. In 2007 he moved to the land of his ancestors, where he played mainly for HYS The Hague until his retirement in 2012 . Only in 2010/11 he was on the ice at the Heerenveen Flyers . With HYS The Hague, he won the Dutch championship in 2009 and the cup competition there in 2012 .

International

Bruinsma played with the Dutch national team at the 2010 World Cup in Division I.
