Marcel Podszus (born August 20, 1976 in Viersen ) is a German football player .

Career

Marcel Podszus started his career at 1. FC Viersen . After various changes, the attacker was signed by Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2003 . There he played four games in the Bundesliga in the 2003/04 season . After three years at Fortuna Düsseldorf , Marcel Podszus moved to the first division club 1. FC Kleve in the summer of 2007 . There he was promoted from the Oberliga Nordrhein to the Regionalliga West in 2008 . With his 19 goals this season, he played a key role in this greatest success in the history of 1. FC Kleve. In the following year, the striker scored again eleven goals in 29 games of the season, but could not prevent the direct relegation. Then Podszus left the club.

On June 12, 2009 Borussia Mönchengladbach announced the commitment of the now 32-year-old. Marcel Podzus initially received a one-year contract with an option, and after a good performance extended a year later to 2012. In July 2012, he moved to VfB Speldorf in the Oberliga Niederrhein , but was only able to participate on the first match day of the season due to a broken kneecap. For the 2013/14 season, Podszus moved to Rather SV in Düsseldorf in the Niederrhein district league, where he assumed the dual role of player and assistant coach. With the club he rose to the state league in 2015. A year later he switched to the Moroccan club MSV Düsseldorf in the district league.
