Marcel Rohner (Manager)

Marcel Rohner (born September 4, 1964 ) is a Swiss manager and was CEO of UBS between July 2007 and February 2009 .

Life

Marcel Rohner studied economics at the University of Zurich . From 1990 to 1992 Rohner was an assistant at the Institute for Empirical Economic Research at the University of Zurich. In 1992 he was there with a econometric work on a non-linear time series model for Swiss stock returns doctorate .

In 1992 he began his professional career at the Swiss Bank Corporation . In 1993 he moved to the Swiss Bank Corporation in the investment banking division . In 1995 he became Head of Market Risk Control Europe at Warburg Dillon Read . After the merger, Rohner became Head of Market Risk Control at UBS in 1998 and Group Chief Risk Officer in 2000 . From there, his ascent continued in 2001 as Chief Operation Officer and Deputy CEO of the Private Banking Division of UBS Switzerland. In 2002 Rohner became a member of the Executive Committee and took over the management of the Wealth Management & Business Banking unit. In January 2006 he was appointed Deputy CEO.

On July 6, 2007, Rohner was appointed to succeed Peter Wuffli as CEO of UBS with immediate effect . On February 26, 2009, Rohner was replaced after his resignation by the former Credit Suisse CEO Oswald Grübel .

Rohner is chairman of the board of directors of the real estate company Löwenfeld AG , board member of Giezendanner Transport AG , vice -chairman of Transport AG , member and on the board of directors of Bank Union Bancaire Privée .

Rohner lives in Aarau , is married and has two children.
