Marcello Puglisi

Marcello Puglisi (born May 17, 1986 in Trescore Balneario , Lombardy ) is an Italian racing driver . He currently drives in the International Formula Masters and in the GP2 series , the Formula 1 youngsters' racing series .

Puglisi began his racing career after several years in karting in 2003 in the Italian Formula Renault and in the Eurocup of this brand formula . He drove in the Italian racing series for three years; his best season position was a 13th place. In 2003 and 2005 he took part in a total of six races of the Eurocup, but could not score any points. In 2005 he also drove a race in Italian Formula 3 .

In 2006 he was promoted to the Euroseries 3000 , where he could not score any points. This year he also started in the competitive series F3000 Masters . In this racing series he was able to reach tenth place in the drivers' championship.

In 2007 Puglisi drove in the newly founded International Formula Masters . In his most successful year in motorsport to date, he won a race and finished fifth overall.

At the start of the 2008 season, Puglisi started in the GP2 Asia series for the Piquet Sports team , but could not score any points. In the current season he is driving again in the International Formula Master. At the race in Pau he took his first win in this class. After an accident of the GP2 driver Davide Valsecchi during the race weekend in Istanbul , Puglise took over his place in the Durango team for the race in Monaco and finished 17th.
