Marcial Ortiz

Marcial Ortiz ( 1910 - December 3, 2007 ), also known by the nicknames Chato and Ranchero , was a Mexican football player who played in midfield .

Life

"Chato" Ortiz probably played exclusively for Club Necaxa throughout his career . His affiliation to the Necaxistas can be proven based on the known sources for the first time in 1930, when he played the opening game of Parque Necaxa . At the runner-up in the 1931/32 season he was present as well as winning the title in the following 1932/33 season. "Ranchero" Ortiz was involved in Necaxa's cup victory in 1936 as well as in the following two championship titles in the capital league in the seasons 1936/37 and 1937/38, when he was also part of the Mexican national soccer team and made a total of five international matches: he made his debut on September 25, 1937 in a friendly against the USA (5-1) and his other four games he played in February 1938 at the Central American Championships of 1938, from which Mexico emerged as the winner. His last known season at Necaxa was in 1941-42.

Marcial Ortiz Chávez, the last survivor of the successful Necaxa team, which went down in Mexican football history under the name Once Hermanos ( Spanish for eleven brothers ) and won four championship titles between 1932/33 and 1937/38, died on Monday, December 3rd 2007 died of natural causes at the age of 97.
