Marciano da Silva

Marciano Octávio Garcia da Silva is an East Timorese diplomat. He is currently Permanent Representative of East Timor to the United Nations in Geneva and Ambassador of East Timor to Switzerland and Monaco .

Career

Since the independence of East Timor in 2002, Silva has been active in the country's diplomatic service. Initially he was director of the multilateral affairs department in the East Timorese Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

From 2008 Silva was counselor at the East Timorese embassy in Brussels , which is responsible for the European Union and the several Central European countries such as Belgium , Germany and Austria . and in the same year took over the post of ambassador as Interim Chargé d'Affairs .

In 2011, Silva returned to the Foreign Ministry in Dili and became National Director for Regional Integration . From January 2011, he was head of the East Timor delegation at the Asian Regional Forum (ARF).

On August 6, 2013, Fonseca was appointed East Timor's first ambassador to Geneva . This makes him permanent representative to the United Nations and ambassador to Switzerland and other countries. The accreditation took place in Monaco on February 19, 2015.
