Marco Abate

Marco Abate (born August 29, 1962 in Milan ) is an Italian mathematician.

Abate studied at the University of Pisa with a Laureate degree in 1985 and, after a stay at the University of Southern California and the University of California, Berkeley , completed postgraduate studies at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa with a diploma in 1988 with Edoardo Vesentini (Iteration Theory of Holomorphic Maps on Taut Manifolds). He then taught in the engineering faculty of the University of Ancona , at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome and from 2001 was Professor of Geometry at the University of Pisa.

He deals with differential geometry (including Finsler spaces), dynamic systems, Teichmüller theory and holomorphic dynamics.

Among other things, he was a visiting scientist at Berkeley, at the IMPA in Rio, in Kyoto and at the Mittag-Leffler Institute .

In 1989 he received the Bartolozzi Prize .

He is also active as a comic book writer ( Lazarus Ledd series) and tries to spread mathematics through comics.
