Thomas Rust (born February 23, 1952 ) is a Swiss journalist and author .

Life

In St. Gallen grown Thomas Rüst studied from 1971 to 1976 at the University of Zurich Jus .

From 1977 to 1986, Rust worked for the Tages-Anzeiger in Zurich , initially in the local editorial office (until 1982), then as a correspondent in Bonn .

From 1986 to 1987 he was head of the domestic department of the Swiss radio DRS (since 2011 Swiss Radio and Television (SRF)) in Bern and from 1987 to 1988 editor of the Sunday newspaper in Zurich. From 1989 to 2006 he worked first as a business editor until 1991 and then as a correspondent in Washington, DC until 1999 and again as deputy editor-in-chief in Zurich for the Tages-Anzeiger from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2006 he was the head of the editorial department.

After leaving, Thomas Rüst worked for Swiss radio and television until 2010, where he co-founded the "DRS 3 Wirtschaft" program (later: "SRF 3 Wirtschaft") from Radio SRF 3 .

After early retirement in 2010, he lived with his wife on the shared sailing boat "Miranda II", an Ovni 35, until March 2014. In 2012 Thomas Rust wrote the novel "Bens Fukushima" in Lisbon , which was published in March 2014 at Edition 8 in Zurich has appeared.

Thomas Rust is married and lives in Switzerland and the USA.
