Marco Esposito (born February 8, 1980 in Massafra ) is a former Italian football player .
Career
Esposito began his career in the youth team of AC Milan , where he was brought into the first team in 1996. After the central defender was not used, he moved to AC Monza Brianza , where he was also not used. Then he moved to Serie D for AC Meda 1913 , where he was able to celebrate promotion to Serie C2 in the first year . After another year at Meda, he moved to AS Cittadella in 2000 , with whom he was relegated from Serie B in 2001/02 . After another year with the relegated club, Esposito was offered a contract with Serie A club AC Ancona .
The central defender made his debut in the top Italian division on November 23, 2003 against Brescia Calcio , when he played through. The game ended 1-1. Esposito came this season, in which Ancona landed in 18th place and was thus the last to be relegated, to a further eleven appearances. He then moved to AC Chievo Verona for a spring season , but remained without a mission. In spring 2005 he was active with US Triestina before moving to AS Bari in summer 2005 , to which he remained loyal until 2009. In the 2008/09 season the promotion to Serie A could be celebrated. Esposito, however, stayed in Serie B and moved to AC Mantova , where he made seven appearances.
From the summer of 2010, the Italian was under contract with the Bulgarian first division club CSKA Sofia . There he was only used three times and left the club in early 2011. He was hired by Portogruaro Calcio in Serie B. With his new team he had to relegate at the end of the 2010/11 season . He then moved to AC Pisa in the Lega Pro . He was used twice for the club.
In summer 2012 he left Pisa again. It was announced shortly after that Esposito would be suspended for three months and ten days for having been involved in match fixing while at AS Bari. He then ended his career.
