Marco Filippo Tornetta (* 1955 in New York City ) is an Italian diplomat .

Career

In 1981 he joined the foreign service. He was initially employed in the Department of Diplomatic Conflicts, Treaties and Legislative Affairs, and later in the Department of Development Cooperation. From 1983 to 1986 he was second class delegation secretary in Tripoli . From 1987 to 1988 he was consul in Bordeaux . From 1989 to 1990 he was first-class legation secretary in Ankara . From 1991 to 1992 he was employed in the communications department. From 1993 to 1996 he had exequatur as consul general in Karachi . From 1997 to 2000 he was Minister Counselor in Lima . From 2001 to 2003 he was employed in the Asia, Oceania, Pacific and Antarctic Department and later in the Training Department. From 2004 to 2006 he was Minister Counselor in Addis Ababa . From 2007 to 2008 he was Minister Counselor in Algiers . From 2009 to 2011 he had exequatur as consul general in Metz . From 2012 to 2015 he was employed in the European Union department.

On 1 December 2015, the Italian Government Cabinet approved his appointment as ambassador in Quito ( Ecuador to) and the State Department made the announcement in a press release.
