Marco Grimaldi (born September 29, 1983 in Göttingen ) is a German basketball player .

career

Marco Grimaldi first played for the BG 74 in Göttingen. He then moved within the 2nd basketball league and played for Wolfenbüttel, Weiden and ETB SW Essen, before returning to Göttingen in 2006. Under coach John Patrick , who had also returned to BG 74 after a year-long engagement in Japan, he was promoted to the basketball league with the team in 2007 and initially played regularly in the top division. After his playing times had almost halved in the second first division season, he left his hometown again in 2009 and joined the Pro A , which replaced the two-pronged 2. BBL in 2007, for the former first division club BG Karlsruhe. After one season he returned to BG 74 and was initially active for the 2nd team in the fourth-class regional league. After John Patrick left the club at the end of the 2010/11 season, the experienced Grimaldi was reactivated for the first division squad for the coming season.

Personal

Marco Grimaldi is the brother of the football player Adriano Grimaldi .

On October 30, 2011, his long-term partner and younger sister died on the way back from the away game of the BG Göttingen in Gießen in a traffic accident on the A5 near Alsfeld .
