Marco Herszel

Marco Herszel (born June 2, 1979 in Schönebeck ) is a former German canoeist .

The canoe racer of SC Magdeburg was at the Canoe Racing World Championships 2005 with Andreas Ihle silver medalist in a two-man kayak over 1000 m. At the 2007 Canoe Racing World Championships in Duisburg, together with Lutz Altepost , Norman Bröckl and Björn Goldschmidt, he became world champion in the four-person kayak over 1000 m. In 2008, he was unable to qualify for the Summer Olympics in Beijing and ended his active competitive sports career as a result. Up to this point in time he had become German champion eleven times .

Herszel was a sports soldier in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Potsdam . He lives in Magdeburg .
