Marcus Ostorius Scapula († 66 ) was a Roman senator at the time of Emperor Nero .

Marcus Ostorius Scapula, whose year of birth is not known, came from a Roman plebeian family that only gained political importance in the early imperial period. Quintus Ostorius Scapula , his great-grandfather, was born under the Emperor Augustus in 2 BC. Together with Salvius Aper first Praetorian prefect (praefectus praetorio) . His father Publius Ostorius Scapula made it under the emperor Claudius to the suffect consul (before 47) and governor of the province of Britannia .

As a young man, Marcus Ostorius Scapula took part in Britain in the battles his father waged to put down the Silurian revolt under their leader Caratacus . In the year 62 Scapula rescued the praetor Antistius Sosianus , who was accused of majestas because of some mocking verses on Nero , by his testimony. Nonetheless, Antistius brought charges against Marcus Ostorius Scapula in connection with the Pisonian conspiracy in 66 , which Scapula could only evade by suicide.
