Ian Fleming (actor)

Ian Fleming (born September 10, 1888 in Melbourne , Victoria , Australia , † January 1, 1969 in London , England ) was an Australian character actor in more than a hundred British films.

Life

Fleming is perhaps best known through his appearances as Dr. Watson known as Holmes in a series of 1930s Sherlock Holmes films starring Arthur Wontner . He also had a number of supporting roles in many classic British films of his era including Testflug QE 97 (1939), Night Train to Munich (1940), We Dive at Dawn , The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (both 1943) and Waterloo Road (1945 ). He also played regularly in the films of comedian George Formby jr.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Fleming made appearances on many television series such as Fabian of the Yard , Hancock's Half Hour , Dixon of Dock Green , Dr. Finlay Casebook , The Forsyte Saga and Number 6 .
