Too Hot to Handle (original title: Too Hot to Handle ) is a British thriller by Terence Young from the year 1960 with Jayne Mansfield , Karlheinz Böhm and Leo Genn in the lead roles. The film opened in West German cinemas on April 16, 1960.
action
The aspiring German reporter Robert Ackermann wants to report on London's nightlife for the Frankfurter Zeitung . To do this, he gets in touch with the owner of the Pink Flamingo, Johnny Solo. Solo gives Ackermann a glimpse into his nightclub . The Pink Flamingo is run by the manager Novak and Solo's friend Midnight, who is responsible for the dancers and corresponding revue interludes. Ackermann gets an insight into the business practices of the club and gets to know the new dancer Lilliane.
Solo's competitor Diamonds Dielli, owner of the neighboring Horseshoe, warns of blackmailers in a confidential conversation with Solo. He shows Solo a telegram with the corresponding content addressed to him and offers him to merge for security reasons. Solo declines with thanks. Only when Solo also finds a ransom note demanding a protection payment of 500 pounds does he contact Diamonds and ask for support. Despite the surveillance by Solo, Diamonds and Novak, the blackmailer manages to disguise Midnight as a priest to steal the bag with the money at the agreed delivery point and to flee. The disguised priest, like Novak, turns out to be Dielli's henchman, the supposed money, however, as images of Midnight. As a result, Diamonds Solo has his club ambushed after work, beat up and the facility demolished. Johnny does not give up, however, but has the club made makeshift.
Eventually, Solo realizes that Diamonds must be behind this, as the Horseshoe has not yet been raided. He confronts Diamonds with his suspicion and beats him up with his own hands. He then informed Novak of the fact that he would now make preparations should thugs show up at the club again. In a phone call, Novak warns Diamonds about the protective measures taken, but notices too late that the loudspeaker in the dancers' changing room was activated. As a result, Midnight and Lilliane heard the conversation.
When Midnight Solo reports on the content of the call, Novak calls and asks him to come. Before that, however, the police appear in the flamingo. The club's investor and permanent guest Armelini strangled one of the dancers when she refused to obey him. The case is particularly explosive because the girl was only fifteen. Ackermann, Lilliane and Midnight testify to the police that Solo arranged the meeting with Armelini. Solo accuses Novak, who has now arrived, as a confidante. Solo and Novak are arrested, Ackermann and Lilliane leave Soho as a couple.

The film service dubbed the film a "poor crime story" and missed Terence Young's later talents.

Jayne Mansfield sings the title track Too Hot to Handle and You Were Made For Me .
For the German version, the film was cut to include a dance by Mansfield. This scene is included as bonus material on the 2011 DVD .
