Marcus Stump

Marcus Stumpf (born June 15, 1974 in Salmünster ) is a German economist and marketing expert. He is Professor of Business Administration , in particular Marketing and Brand Management at the FOM University of Economics & Management , University of Applied Sciences, and Scientific Director of the Competence Center Marketing and Sales Management (KCMS).

Stumpf began his university career at the University of Bayreuth , where he studied business administration with a focus on marketing and service marketing . After graduating in Bayreuth, he did his doctorate at the University of Basel at the chair of Manfred Bruhn with a research thesis on "Monitoring the success of integrated communication". In 2005 he received the Seghezzi Prize for his dissertation from the Swiss Association for Quality (SAQ).

Professional Activities

The doctorate was followed by several years of consulting and management practice. He worked as a senior consultant at the ZMU Marketing Academy in Oestrich-Winkel and as a research associate and project manager at the Management Academy of the German Olympic Sports Confederation in Cologne. As managing director, he was ultimately responsible for brand management and marketing of the second largest German sports association - the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB). He accompanied u. a. the brand relaunch of the association brand and was responsible with his team for the marketing of the national gymnastics team and the EnBW Gymnastics World Championship 2007 in Stuttgart.

After more than five years as head of department and professor for marketing and relationship management in the business administration course at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences , Professor Dr. Stumpf was appointed to Macromedia University in 2015 and finally to the FOM University of Economics & Management in Frankfurt am Main in 2016 . Marcus Stumpf does not limit his activities as a lecturer to courses for young academics. It is also focused on the further training of executives in the German, Austrian and Swiss economy. So he is committed u. a. as part of Executive MBA programs at the University of Bayreuth , the Danube University in Krems and at the Swiss Training Center for Marketing, Advertising and Communication (SAWI) in Zurich / Dübendorf.

As the founder and head of the Employer Branding Institute (Frankfurt am Main - Salzburg) as well as the founder and managing director of the consulting company relatio, he works as an independent consultant for companies and organizations.

Research priorities

Stumpf has published numerous books as well as over 70 book chapters and articles in specialist journals on the topics of association management, strategic marketing , brand management and branding, brand psychology and neuromarketing , employer branding , integrated corporate and marketing communication as well as customer relationship management and customer orientation . He is also the editor of PraxisWISSEN - German Journal of Marketing .
