The Swiss Association for Quality (SAQ) is a Swiss association and competence center for management systems , personal certification and business excellence with headquarters in Bern , which offers various courses and advanced training courses in the field of quality management. The SAQ is accredited by SECO as a certification body.

history

In 1965 the association was founded under the name SAQ Swiss Working Group for Quality Promotion in Bern. Only in 2001 does the name change to SAQ Swiss Association for Quality . Just two years after SAQ was founded, the association became a member of the German Society for Quality (DGQ) and has represented its interests in Switzerland ever since.

The first section, originally the “Rhine Valley” section, was founded in 1976, but today it is called the “ Eastern Switzerland ” section . In 1994 the eleventh and so far last section, the “ Valais ” section, was launched. In 1983 the first specialist group, the SAQ computer science specialist group, was created and only twelve years later, in 2005, the second specialist group, the medical devices specialist group . From 1994, the SAQ was entitled EOQ - Personal certificates to issue and also secured European Foundation for Quality Management (EQM) -Representation for the whole of Switzerland.

Subsidiaries

Subsidiaries of the SAQ Swiss Association for Quality are SAQ-Qualicon AG in Olten and Ariaq SA in Yverdon-les-Bains .

structure

Today the SAQ consists of around 1,800 members, 80% of whom are company members of the association itself. This association is divided into eleven sections within Switzerland and two specialist groups.

Computer Science Section

The IT specialist group at the SAQ deals with imparting skills that are necessary for quality in software-intensive systems. There are five subject areas:

  • The first topic is exchange. The aim here is to network people with practical experience, who then have the opportunity to share their experiences with each other. In this context there are several working groups that meet regularly and exchange ideas on certain topics.
  • The second topic is training . In the context of this subject area, the SAQ offers meetings and conferences in addition to existing training offers in key areas of knowledge.
  • The third subject area is IT certificates . The development of existing personal certificates is promoted and new ones are also developed. Furthermore, employees are offered various, industry-specific certifications .
  • In fourth place is the observation and evaluation of trends. New and relevant developments are recognized and these are promoted through support in the construction and active work by working groups. This topic is closely related to the first mentioned topic of exchange.
  • The fifth topic is public relations , which is also closely linked to the topic of exchange, since public relations primarily consists in the fact that the work teams and their discussion groups are public, i.e. accessible to the general public and therefore to everyone.

Medical devices specialist group

The medical devices specialist group focuses on passing on specialist knowledge and experience to people working in the medical industry. In order to enable this exchange of information, seminars , events and press reports on news and experiences in the medical field are offered and promoted. In addition, this specialist group enables access to specialists who come from the industry.

Swiss Business Excellence

The SAQ Business Excellence (BEx), in cooperation with the European Foundation for Quality Management (EQFM), provides a service offering Business Excellence, a so-called EFQM Excellence model, to interested members of various companies. The EFQM model is offered to promote the further development, performance and competitiveness of companies or organizations. The EFQM recognition program is carried out in two stages to be achieved.

The first stage is the EFQM commitment to excellence «C2E» and consists of a questionnaire for self- assessment . The aim is to get a first status in the criteria model with this. It should help to define three prioritized improvement projects, which in turn are decisive for achieving the EFQM commitment to excellence. This questionnaire is then expanded to include the EFQM commitment to the Excellence «C2E» 2-Star Assessment, using a self-assessment tool, also for preparation and as a prerequisite for reaching the second level. This tool enables data to be collected that will later be used as a basis for the internal self-assessment and the necessary application document .

Stage two is then the EFQM recognition for Excellence «R4E». This is also a self-assessment, but here using the Business Excellence Matrix. This tool can be used to document various processes and their results in relation to the four result criteria of the EFQM model.

Personal certification

The SAQ personal certification was accredited on May 30, 1994 by the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) according to SN EN 17024 . Since 1990, over 17,000 national (SAQ), European ( EOQ ) and international ( bank customer advisors , IT in the ISTQB / IREB / ISPMA / UXQB area ) certificates have been issued. Thanks to the accreditation by the SAS and regular reviews, the SAQ guarantees consistent and high quality for the courses for obtaining and finally issuing their certificates as well as transparency in their award.
