Marek Bydžovský z Florentýna ( also Marek Moravec Bydžovský z Florentina ) (* 1540 in Nový Bydžov ; † September 15, 1612 in Prague ) was a Czech historian, astronomer, mathematician and scholar and humanist.

Life

Bydžovský z Florentýna studied at the University of Prague, graduated in 1559 with a bachelor's degree and in 1565 that of the Master of Fine Arts . From 1567 he taught astronomy, mathematics and explained the writings of Cicero and Aristotle . He was elected dean five times and rector of Charles University six times . In 1604, at the age of 64, he left the university after internal disputes, married a wealthy widow, became a brewer and senator in Prague's New Town .

Works

He is the author of smaller poems, speeches and historical writings and treatises. He also published a collection on events in Europe from 1526 to 1596 under the title The World Under Three Bohemian Kings (Svět za tří českých králů).
