from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Margaret Marley Modlin (born January 5, 1927 in Robeson County , United States , † October 28, 1998 in Madrid , Spain ) was an American surrealist artist .

Live and act

In 1949 Modlin married the poet and actor Elmer Nelson Modlin (1925-2003). The son Nelson Modlin († 2002) emerged from the marriage. In 1972 the family moved to Spain, where Modlin devoted himself entirely to painting. She exhibited her work in California, New York, Italy and Spain. These included exhibitions in 1972 in the Galería de Luis and in 1978 in the Círculo de Bellas Artes . After her husband died, over 120 of her paintings were found in her Madrid home.

Modlin was also seen in the films Love, Pain and All the Damned Stuff (1973) and March or Die (1977) as an actress. In 2012 there was a short film entitled A Story for the Modlins , directed by Sergio Oksman, about the Modlin family, which was shown at the 2013 Short Film Week in Regensburg. By chance Oksman had received a box full of photos, letters and papers as well as a VHS tape with which he created this film.
