Margaret McDougall (born January 23, 1949 ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .

Life

After completing school, McDougall initially worked for a textile company. She then studied part-time at the University of Glasgow . She is a member of the UNISON union and lives in Irvine with her husband and two children .

Political career

In 1999 McDougall was elected to the North Ayrshire Regional Council and has been re-elected since then. She first appeared in the 2007 Scottish General Election for national elections. However, you did not apply for the direct mandate of a constituency, but was set on the fourth place on the regional electoral list of the Labor Party for the electoral region South of Scotland . Since the Labor Party did not receive a list mandate in this electoral region as a result of the election result, McDougall missed the entry into the Scottish Parliament . In the following general election in 2011 , McDougall was placed on the regional electoral list of the neighboring electoral region of South Scotland . She received one of three Labor Party lists in this electoral region and entered the Scottish Parliament for the first time.
