Margaret Weis

Margaret Weis (* 16th March 1948 in Independence , Missouri ) is an American author of fantasy - literature and along with Tracy Hickman Erschafferin several cycles like Dragonlance and The Rose of the Prophet .

Life

In 1970 Weis graduated from the University of Missouri at Columbia with a BA in literature and creative writing. She then worked for 13 years at the Herald Publishing House in her hometown. During this time she wrote her first book, a biography of Frank and Jesse James. In 1983 she moved to TSR , where she (1985) met Tracy Hickman, with whom she worked on the Dragon Lance series and the associated role-playing game. In addition to numerous novels, she also wrote many role play publications.

Margaret Weis was married to her fellow writer Don Perrin , with whom she also wrote several books. In 2003 the couple divorced. She now works as a freelance writer and is co-owner of Sovereign Press , a publisher of role-playing systems (such as the Sovereign Stone role-playing game) in Lake Geneva. She is also in charge of Margret Weis Productions (MWP), her own publisher. She lives in a converted barn in Wisconsin.

Her two children from her first marriage are also active in the field of literature. Her son David Baldwin is the creator of the Darkheart series and her daughter Elizabeth Baldwin is a writer for Wizards of the Coast .
