Margaret Darling Woodbridge (married Presley ; born January 6, 1902 in Detroit , † February 23, 1995 in New York ) was an American swimmer.
She took part in the 1920 Summer Olympics in the Belgian city of Antwerp . There she succeeded in winning the gold medal on August 29 with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. The Americans improved the long track world record that had existed since 1912 by 41.2 seconds and relegated the British and Swedes to their places in 05: 11.6. In the final of the 300 meter freestyle race, Woodbridge finished second behind her compatriot Ethelda Bleibtrey in 04: 42.8 .
Margaret Woodbridge was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1989 and died in New York borough Brooklyn in 1995 at the age of 93 .
