Margareta Clausdotter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Margareta Clausdotter (died December 10, 1486 ) was a Swedish writer and genealogist , a Roman Catholic nun of the Order of the Redeemer and from 1473 until her death abbess of the Abbey of Vadstena . Christina Brask translated the antiphonary for her .

She is best known for her chronicle about the family of Saint Birgitta , which contains some legends and stories not known from other sources. Your chronicle influenced later historical and genealogical writers. A story about the king's brother, Bengt Lagman, who marries Sigrid the Fair, a woman of more modest origin, is best known in the play Bröllopet på Ulfåsa (1865) by the Swedish playwright Frans Hedberg (1828–1908) and in the one for that Piece of written music by August Söderman (1832–1876) retold. Bengt Lagman was the story of Bengt Magnusson (d. 1294), but the story is largely inconsistent with, or at least not verified by, contemporary sources.
