Margarete Sorg-Rose

Margarete Sorg-Rose (born April 11, 1960 in Remscheid ) is a German composer , conductor , music historian and author .

Career

Sorg-Rose received her first piano lessons at the age of five and sang in various choirs. From 1979 she studied musicology, classical philology, theology, philosophy in Mainz and Tübingen and from 1983 piano pedagogy, choir conducting in Mainz (state examination 1985); Composition with Volker David Kirchner . She took part in various summer courses and trained in orchestral conducting. Sorg-Rose worked as a répétiteur with the Mainz Bach Choir , as a music journalist for the Wuppertal theaters as well as for the music publisher Schott Music and the ZDF in Mainz.

She also studied composition in the master classes of Hans Werner Henze and Krzysztof Meyer at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne , where she graduated in composition in 1994 .

Her works are represented in numerous performances at national and international music festivals. Her main creative areas are choral and orchestral works, chamber music, song / vocal music.

The composer has been working as a freelance artist since 1993 (company SR-international-office® ). She is also working on her musicological dissertation on the music and dramatic works of Hans Werner Henze .
