Margaretha Sudhof

Margaretha Sudhof (born May 15, 1959 in Münster ) is a German legal scholar and political officer ( SPD ). From 2012 to 2019 she was State Secretary in the Senate Department for Finance of the State of Berlin . She has been State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Justice since July 23, 2019 .

Life

After graduating from Eichwald-Gymnasium in Sulzbach im Taunus (1978), Sudhof began studying law , which she completed between 1979 and 1984 in Mannheim and Frankfurt am Main . As a result, she was a research assistant at the Institute of Business Law of the Frankfurt Johann Wolfgang Goethe University (1985-1990), received his doctorate in 1989 , Dr. iur. , completed a legal traineeship from 1991 to 1993 , worked again as a research assistant at the Institute for Business Law in Frankfurt am Main between 1993 and 1994 and became a judge at the Administrative Court in Frankfurt am Main in 1994 . She worked there until 1997.

After positions as Head of Unit Law and Constitution in the Hessian State Chancellery (1998-1999), Head of Constitution in the Federal Chancellery (1999-2002) and Deputy Director of the Policy Department at the Ministry of the Interior (2002), Sudhof from 2003 and 2005 as a group leader inside and right again employed in the Federal Chancellery . In 2006 she took over the post of representative of the federal interest at the Federal Administrative Court in the Federal Ministry of the Interior , in 2007 she became an advisor to the chairman of the SPD parliamentary group, Peter Struck, for the federalism reform II , the accompanying Lisbon legislation and constitutional issues, and from 2010 she held the position of permanent representative of the Head of the Crisis Management and Civil Protection Department in the Federal Ministry of the Interior .

On February 1, 2012, Sudhof was appointed as the successor to Christian Sundermann as State Secretary in the Senate Department for Finance Berlin under Senator Ulrich Nussbaum and continued in office under Senator Matthias Kollatz .

In July 2019 , the new Minister Christine Lambrecht appointed her to the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection as State Secretary in place of Christiane Wirtz .
