Margarita Martirena (* 1966 ) is a former Uruguayan athlete .

Career

Martirena was active in the running competitions on the sprint courses. She took part with the Uruguayan team in the 1986 South American Games in Chile . At the Games she won the gold medal with the 4 x 100 meter relay . The following year she was part of the squad at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis . There she took 7th place with the 4 x 400 meter relay . Four years later she started again as a member of the Uruguayan team at the Pan American Games in Havana in 1991 . In the 100-meter run , she came 11th there with a time of 12.22 seconds.

Martirena is still today (as of June 15, 2015) the co-owner of the Uruguayan national record of the 4 x 100 meter relay . On this she worked as a member of the national relay on July 16, 1992 at the Ibero-American Championships in Seville, which required a time of 46.51 seconds for the distance.
