Margot Jolanthe Hemberger

Margot Jolanthe Hemberger (born December 8, 1921 in Stuttgart ; † May 15, 2016 ) was a Loßburg painter and sculptor and holder of the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit .

Live and act

In 1940 Hemberger graduated from the higher technical college for graphic arts and then began her four-year course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . She learned from the renowned artists Anton Kolig and Fritz von Graevenitz . During the Second World War she did military service at three different locations. Among other things, she worked there during the harvest (Menhardweiler) and in a children's home ( Warthegau ). She completed her third position in the arms factory ( Maulbronn ). From 1955 to 1959 she worked as a sculptor within the Volksbildungswerk in Freudenstadt . She followed her profession as a painter from 1975–1981 at an adult education center. In the course of her life she developed into a freelance artist.

Works

Hemberger mainly created fountains, monuments, murals and restored old churches. In these areas she worked with stainless steel and glass, among other things. Some works are listed below:

  • Glass mosaic (1953, Stuttgart-Stammheim)
  • Wall painting (1954, Breuninger School Loßburg)
  • War memorial in sandstone (1954, Breuninger School Loßburg)
  • Wall picture made of wrought iron and mosaic (1969, Fischerwerke Tumlingen)
  • Renovation and complete redesign of the Catholic Church (1994, Neuenbürg)
  • Large sculpture "unfolding" made of stainless steel, painted glass and wood (2009, Freudenstadt)
  • Large sculpture "Form and Color" stainless steel (2011, Loßburg)

In 1987 the art volume "Sculpture, Painting, Graphics, Philosophy in Color and Form" appeared, which depicts the life and work of Margot Jolanthe Hemberger.
