Margot Schindler

Margot Schindler (born December 14, 1952 in Hoheneich ) is an Austrian folklorist .

Life

Margot Schindler studied folklore, art history and Slavic studies with Leopold Schmidt at the University of Vienna . She has been working in the academic service of the Austrian Folklore Museum in Vienna since 1979 and was director there from 2006 to 2013.

Margot Schindler has published important articles on Austrian folklore, including fundamental works on the saga and legend of the Waldviertel and contemporary history . She works on the Bibliography on Folklore Austria, was Secretary General of the Austrian National Committee of ICOM from 1992-1998 , was General Secretary of the Society for Folklore in Vienna from 2001 to 2013 and edited the news paper “Folklore in Austria” from 1982 to 2004 and from 1992 to 2006 the "Österreichische Zeitschrift für Volkskunde" and is its co-editor.
