The Church of the Nativity of Mary ( Serbo-Croatian : Храм Рођења Пресвете Богородице, Hram Rođenja Presvete Bogorodice), also called Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God , in the city of Bosanska Krupa is a Serbian Orthodox Church in western Bosnia .

The church, which was built and consecrated in 1882, is dedicated to the solemnity of the Nativity of Mary.

It is the parish church of the Krupa parish in the Sana -Krupa deanery of the Bihać - Petrovac eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church .

The church is located in the center of Bosanska Krupa. The church stands almost directly on the bank of the Una River , a right tributary of the Save .

history

The Assumption nativity church was built in 1882 and in the same year by the Metropolitan of the Metropolitanate Dabrobosnien inaugurated Sava (Kosanović). A second major Serbian Orthodox Church has been in the city before the First World War built.

On July 29, 1941, the church was razed and looted by the Croatian-fascist Ustaša . The Ustascha were allies of the Axis Powers in World War II and established a vassal state in Croatia , Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the Serbian Srem , the Independent Place of Croatia . These Croatian fascists persecuted Jews , Roma , communists , especially Serbs, and their Orthodox Church .

The second Serbian Orthodox Church was also destroyed and not rebuilt. Today's new church was built on the site of the old Church of the Birth of Mary from 1989 to 1991. During the Bosnian War , which lasted from 1992 to 1995, the church was badly damaged by members of the ARBiH and the church inventory was plundered.

In 2007, with the blessing of Bishop Hrizostom (Jević), a committee was established to deal with the renovation of the church. In the same year, the necessary funds were raised to renovate the roof and facade of the church in the first phase.

The general renovation of the church began on February 11, 2008 with the blessing of Bishop Hrizostom. The renovation has now been completed on the outside and is currently being carried out inside. The priest of the church is Karađor Pre Derajić.
