The Roman Catholic branch church of the Assumption of Mary is located in the Antdorf district of Frauenrain in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau . The listed church belongs as part of the parish of St. Peter and Paul Antdorf to the deanery Benediktbeuern in the diocese of Augsburg .

history

A church in Frauenrain was mentioned in writing as early as the 11th century. The present church was already standing around 1440. Around 1670 and 1721 it was redesigned in Baroque style .

For a long time there was a pilgrimage to the Church of the Assumption of Mary .

The square church tower is connected to the south of the externally Romanesque , plastered hall church with retracted polygonal choir . The latter is built from rubble stones and tuff blocks and has a gable roof . The church is surrounded by a plastered, essentially late medieval , cemetery wall.

The organ from the Max Maerz workshop was in the Antdorf parish church of St. Peter and Paul until 1935 . When a new one was purchased there, it came to the Frauenrain church.
