Maria Feodorovna Andreyeva
Marija Fjodorovna Andrejewa ( Russian Мария Фёдоровна Андреева ; * 1868 in Saint Petersburg , † December 8, 1953 in Moscow ) was a Russian theater actress.
She played in pieces by Gerhart Hauptmann ( The Sunken Bell , Lonely People ) and Anton Chekhov ( Three Sisters , The Cherry Orchard ).
Andreyeva had an informal marriage with the writer Maxim Gorky after the turn of the century . She was in contact with Lenin and in 1905 was the editor of the Bolshevik newspaper Новая Жизнь , Novaya Shizn (New Life). After the October Revolution she held high offices in the field of culture; so she was appointed commissioner for the entire Russian theater sector and minister for the entire theater and arts sector. In 1918 she was one of the founders of the Bolshoi Drama Theater in Petersburg. She was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor .
Marija Andrejewa was the mother of the director Yuri Andreevich Scheljabuschski .
