Maria Bengtsson (born May 7, 1975 in Trelleborg , Sweden ) is a Swedish opera and concert singer ( soprano ).

Life

Maria Bengtsson grew up in Höllviken in southern Sweden. From 1995 to 2000 she studied with Beata Heuer-Christen in Freiburg im Breisgau . From 2000 to 2002 she was a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper and from 2002 to 2007 she was a permanent member of the Komische Oper Berlin .

At the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and at the Berlin State Opera Maria Bengtsson worked with conductors Daniel Barenboim , Kirill Petrenko , Bertrand de Billy , Thomas Hengelbrock , Marc Minkowski , Antonio Pappano , Philippe Jordan and Vladimir Jurowski as well as with the directors Hans Neuenfels , Jonathan Miller , Sebastian Baumgarten , Peter Konwitschny , Claus Guth and Calixto Bieito .

Her repertoire includes Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte , Donna Anna in Don Giovanni , Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro , Konstanze in the Abduction from the Seraglio (all Mozart), the title role in Daphne , Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier and Countess in Capriccio (all Richard Strauss).
