Maria Danou ( Greek Μαρία Ντάνου , born March 3, 1990 in Veria ) is a Greek cross-country skier and biathlete .

Career

Danou competed in the Cross-Country Balkan Cup from 2007 to 2011 . In February 2011 she won her only victory and in 2010 she finished fourth in the overall ranking. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in 2009 , she reached 82nd place in the sprint. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she finished 72nd in the 10 km freestyle. In the 2016/17 season she finished in the top ten ten times in the Balkan Cup , including second place over 5 km freestyle in Metsovo and thus achieved third place in the overall standings. In March 2017, she became Greek sprint champion. In 2008 she took part in four races in the European Cup in biathlon. The 60th place in the sprint was her best placement. Danou has qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , South Korea . She won 76th place over 10 km freestyle. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , she ran 79th place over 10 km classic, 78th place in sprint and 58th place in skiathlon .
