Maria Herrmann-Kaufmann (born January 19, 1921 in Escholzmatt ; † January 16, 2008 in Emmenbrücke ) was a Swiss painter .

Life

Maria Herrmann-Kaufmann was born and raised in Escholzmatt in Entlebuch . Her second home, however, was Emmenbrücke , a suburb of Lucerne . In her studio in the Sprengi district, she created most of her works.

Landscapes and village views shaped her early works. Maria Herrmann-Kaufmann, on the other hand, became known through abstract works with strong colors and the depictions of fish. In the meantime, black shaped her paintings, where light and bright colors always shimmered through. Her works of art are signed with the acronym MHK. Most of her works are in private or public ownership, the artistic estate is administered by a foundation.

She completed her training at the School of Design , Lucerne, Académie de la Grande Chaumière, Paris, with Ronald Kocher ( Bern ), Otto Kuhn ( Boswil ), Alfred Sidler (Lucerne), Fred Stauffer (Bern) and Adolf Weber (Menziken) .

Since 1956 she has shown her works in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Bern, Lucerne, Emmenbrücke, Zug, Buchrain, Kriens, Flühlen, Flühli-Sörenberg, Schüpfheim, Porrentruy, Mendrisio, Escholzmatt, and Osnabrück.

She died on January 16, 2008 in the ALP center for the elderly in Emmenbrücke.
