The church in Rüdenhausen

The church Maria Hilfe der Christisten in Rüdenhausen in Lower Franconia is the church of the Catholic community. It is in the east of the municipality. Today the church is part of the Kitzingen deanery .

history

When Rüdenhausen became a parish is not mentioned in the sources. A pastor was first mentioned in 1364. In 1546, the Counts of Castell introduced the Reformation in the village, so that Catholics did not reside in Rüdenhausen until the 18th century. From 1863 the Catholic residents came to the Catholic parish of Wiesentheid. The believers also attended the services in the nearby Mauritius Church .

Only after the Second World War, with the arrival of the expellees , did the number of Catholics in Rüdenhausen increase. In 1954, the episcopal building authority in Würzburg began planning a church, and Hans Maurer from Wiesentheid was able to be won over as the building master . The foundation stone was laid on May 2, 1954, and the church was consecrated in the same year. In 1968 the choir room was redesigned. The free-standing bell tower was only built next to the building in 1995.

architecture

The actual church is a simple rectangular building. It was not plastered on the outside, but clad with simple sandstone. The church closes at the top with a hipped roof . A special feature is the campanile to the right of the church . It was erected in the same style as the church in 1995. A short unplastered part merges into the elongated metal hood, which is decorated by the sound hatches.

Furnishing

Bells

The ringing of the church Maria Hilfe der Christians consists of four bells . Since the church was not built until after the Second World War and the bell tower was not completed until 1995, the bells did not come into the church until the post-war period. The oldest bell is the Marienbell from 1954. The other three bells were made in 1995.

Further equipment

Most of the furnishings came to the Mariahilfkirche at the time of construction. Thus the altar, the ambo, a tabernacle stele and the sediles were all created in 1954. All elements were built from shell limestone . The altar fresco shows the "Apocalypse", the altar was consecrated on November 14, 1954. Hans Konrad Saffer from Bamberg , on the other hand, made the painting showing the Mount of Olives scene, painted in 1924.

The organ of the Mariahilfkirche did not enter the church until 1977. It was made by the Schmidt company from Gelnhausen and has a total of eight registers . The oldest elements of church furnishings are the two figures of biblical saints. They both date from the 18th century.
