The Maria Immaculata Church is a Roman Catholic parish church of the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising in Munich . It is located in the south of the Harlaching district and bears the patronage of the Immaculate Conception of Mary

history

The current church building was preceded by an emergency church on the same spot, which was consecrated immediately after the Second World War . On October 26, 1958 was foundation laid for the construction of the present church, which on October 18, 1959 inaugurated was. The parish today forms a parish association with the parish of the Holy Family .

Building description

The church interior has the shape of an irregular octagon, with the altar island on the front wall, which is roofed with a canopy . Four sides of the church are pierced with colorless ribbon windows, which are criss-crossed with a simple regular pattern made of concrete. The weekday chapel is separated by a glass wall in one corner. To the side of the church is the slender church tower , which is crowned by a cross.

Rieger organ

Today's organ was built in 2016 by the organ builder Rieger from Schwarzach (Vorarlberg) . It replaces a predecessor instrument made by the Guido Nenninger company in 1959. The Rieger organ has slide chests with mechanical action and electrical stop action. Its disposition with 37 registers is based on German Romanticism.
