Maria José Ritta
Maria José Rodrigues Ritta (born December 19, 1941 in Lisbon ) was the wife of the politician Jorge Sampaio from March 1996 to March 2006 Primeira-dama of Portugal.
Career
Ritta was born to José António Ritta and Maria José Rodrigues Xavier in Lisbon and grew up in Vila Real de Santo António , where her parents came from. In April 1974, after his divorce from his first wife, she married the lawyer Jorge Sampaio. The marriage had two children.
She was employed by the airline TAP from 1967 to 1996 , where she held a managerial position from 1969. With the election of her husband as president, she put her professional activity on hold.
