Mary Queen of Peace (Untervinxt)
The chapel Maria Königin des Friedens in Untervinxt , a district of the local community Schalkenbach in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built around 1900 and is located in Hardtstraße.
history
The chapel, a hall building , was donated by Maria Elisabeth Knieps around 1900 and remained in the private ownership of the heirs until 2002. After they had given the dilapidated building to the local community, the chapel was renovated and a belfry was added. A bell was also purchased with the following inscription: Mary Queen of Peace pray for us.
On August 22nd, 2004, the chapel was consecrated again under the name Maria Queen of Peace . Three carved figures decorate the interior: the Mother of God with child and crown as queen, Saint Joseph as the patron saint of craftsmen and workers and Saint Elizabeth , the benefactress of the poor and needy.
