Maria Levin

Maria Levin (born June 7, 1984 in Tbilisi , Georgian SSR ) is a German-speaking singer.

Life

Maria Levin's mother is a pianist, her father a double bass player. She started playing the piano at the age of five. When she was seven, the family moved to her father's homeland in Moscow to give her the best possible education in this field. At the age of 14 Maria Levin switched from piano to singing and took singing lessons. She gained her first stage experience as a singer with the school band. During this time she also began to write her own songs. After graduating from school, she first completed a two-year vocal training course at the Institute for Modern Art in Moscow.

In 2004 Levin moved to Germany. She studied journalism and communication science as well as religious studies at the WWU Münster, followed by a master's degree in 2010.

In 2009 Levin was accepted by the "Pop Course" at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . A year later she met the Hamburg producer Ivo Moring . The two wrote four demo songs together and a little later Levin received a record deal with Sony Music / Ariola. Her debut album "Black on White" was released in 2012. She wrote both lyrics and music for some of the songs on the album. Levin was nominated for the Golden Henne , Smago and My Star of the Year as Newcomer of the Year in 2012 and won the Smago Award.

This was followed by television appearances with Carmen Nebel , in Florian Silbereisen shows, with Immer wieder sonntags as well as in the ZDF television garden . In 2013 Levin was on tour with Florian Silbereisen. This was followed by the “Christmas again and again” tour and the 2014 spring tour “Always Sunday again - on the go” with Stefan Mross .

Her second album “Maria Levin” was released on September 26, 2014, for which she was jointly responsible for text and music. Her first single "Ein neue Himmel" reached 9th place in the charts. At Christmas 2014 Levin sang alongside tenor Volker Bengl as a soloist in the Christmas concerts organized annually by the Hessischer Rundfunk. In February 2015 the second single was released, "Ich küss dich mit den Augen".

In the spring of 2015 Levin was again a guest on the “Always again on Sundays - on the go” tour in more than 60 cities.
