Maria Loheide

Maria Loheide (born August 30, 1958 in Beelen , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a scientifically trained social worker and curative teacher . Since August 2012 she has been the social policy director of Diakonie Deutschland and a board member of the Evangelical Work for Diakonia and Development .

Life

Maria Loheide studied social work and curative education at the universities of Münster and Hamm and began her professional activity in the field of socio-educational foster child placement, family and parenting advice. She began her career in the association work of the Diakonie in 1989, first as a consultant for family education, women and family in the Diakonisches Werk Westfalen, then as the department head for children, youth, family and women , from 2001 to 2008 as managing director at the Diakonisches Werk Westfalen. From 2008 to 2011 she was head of the family, education and upbringing division of Diakonie Rheinland-Westfalen-Lippe. In 2011 Maria Loheide was elected to the board of the Diakonisches Werk der EKD.

After founding the Evangelical Work for Diakonie and Development in 2012, she is director of social policy at Diakonie Deutschland. The main focus of their work is socio-political lobbying towards federal politics. She is responsible for the work of the social policy centers of Diakonie Deutschland. Maria Loheide fulfills functions in the network organizations in which Diakonie works. She chairs the Social Commission II of the Federal Working Group for Independent Welfare Care and is Vice President of the German Association for Public and Private Welfare . She is Vice Chairperson in the European diaconal association Eurodiaconia.
