Maria Muchavo

Maria Elisa Muchavo (born July 26, 1992 in Maputo , Mozambique ) is a Mozambican athlete .

Maria Muchavo, who was born in the Mozambican capital Maputo, started her sporting activities in athletics at the age of seven. Muchavo has had a visual impairment since she was born, so she can only see distances of up to 20 meters. Your first club was the Núcleo Desportivo de Laulane.

In 2007 Muchavo began to train for competitions, in 2008 the sports club Clube de Desportos Matchedje de Maputo took them on. There, the Mozambican Paralympic Sports Association ( Federação Moçambicana do Desporto de Pessoas Portadoras de Deficiência ) became aware of her and she received additional funding. In 2010 she represented Mozambique for the first time in an international competition. She completed her school education at the Escola Secundária Eduardo Mondlane in the capital.

In 2011 Muchavo won the bronze medal in the 200 m T12 sprint at the Africa Games in Maputo with a time of 27.44 s.

In 2012 Muchavo was the first Paralympic athlete in Mozambique to take part in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London (together with her colleague Pita Rondão Bulande ) . She took part in three disciplines (sprints over 100 m T12, 200 m T12 and 400 m T12), but dropped out everywhere in the preliminary round. At the Commonwealth Games in Scotland in 2014 , she won the silver medal in the 100 m T12 jumping with a time of 13.33 s. At the IBSA World Championships and Games 2015 in Seoul, Muchavo won gold in the 100 m T12 sprint.

Muchavo did not qualify for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Instead, Edmilsa Governo drove .
