Maria Scheiber

Maria Scheiber (born December 31, 1961 in Ehenbichl ) is a former Austrian politician ( Greens ). From 1999 to 2012 she was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament .

Maria Scheiber attended elementary school in Elmen from 1967 to 1971 and then the secondary school in Elbigenalp until 1975 . After attending the agricultural state housekeeping school in Breitenwang from 1975 to 1976, she learned the profession of office clerk by 1979. Between 1976 and 1995 she worked as an office clerk, after which she traded in electrical goods until 1996. From 1996 and 1999 she was chairwoman of the Elmen tourism association.

Scheiber campaigned against the power plant on the Streimbach and in 1986 was co-founder of the citizens' initiative “ObAcht Lechtal” against the destruction of the Lech . In 1998 she was elected to the Elmen City Council, of which she was a member until 2010. From March 1999 to May 2012 Maria Scheiber was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament. She was a member of the finance committee and from 2003 represented the Greens in the committee for economy, tourism and technology. She was previously a member of the Agriculture, Forestry and Environment Committee.

Scheiber's main topics were nature and the environment. She was also responsible within the Green MPs for the Imst, Reutte and Landeck regions. In spring 2012, Scheiber handed over her mandate to the Green State Spokeswoman Ingrid Felipe for health reasons .
