Maria Serafina del Sacro Cuore S.dA ( German Maria Serafina of the Sacred Heart of Jesus ) (real name Clotilde Micheli ) (born September 11, 1849 in Imèr , Austrian Empire , † March 24, 1911 in Faicchio , Italy) was an Italian nun and Founder of the Institute of the Suore degli Angeli - "Sisters of the Angels" (also Adoratrici della Santissima Trinità - "Adorers of the Most Holy Trinity"). She is venerated as a blessed in the Catholic Church .

Life

Although Clotilde Micheli felt a spiritual calling at a very early age, she first entered with the Sisters of Immaculata (also called Immacolatine in Italian ), who a few years earlier had been given by St. Agostino Roscelli were founded. At the age of 18 she had had a vision in which she was called by Our Lady to found a sister institute based on the holy angels as models for prayer, worship and service . In 1878 she followed her parents to Epfendorf in Baden-Württemberg. There she worked with the Elisabeth Sisters. In 1885 she returned to Italy.

In 1888 she became superior in the Sgurgola d'Anagni branch . On June 28, 1891, with the support of the Bishop of Caserta, she founded her own institute and took the religious name Maria Serafina del Sacro Cuore . Five sisters took their religious vows with her . A short time later, the sisters were sent to Capua to take over a youth home for neglected young people. In 1899 the motherhouse was opened in Faicchio . At the time of Maria Serafina del Sacro Cuore's death, the Suore degli Angeli had 66 sisters who ran 13 houses. In 2012 the community consisted of 300 sisters and had 50 convents in southern Italy, Brazil, the Philippines, Indonesia and Benin.

Maria Serafina del Sacro Cuore was beatified on May 28, 2011 in Cerreto Sannita by Cardinal Angelo Amato . Her feast day in the liturgy is May 28th.
