Maria Sophia Clara Evergisla Bawyr von Frankenberg (also: von Frankenberg without Bawyr or Baur von Frankenberg ) (* 1667 ; † May 4, 1737 ) from the noble family of the Lords of Buer was abbess in St. Cecilia in Cologne .

Maria Sophia's father was the Jülich-Bergische Hofkammerrat , colonel of the cavalry , Bergischer bailiff to Löwenberg / Lülsdorf and Palatinate-New Burg bailiff at Burg Landsberg in the Palatinate Johann Friedrich Bawyr von Frankenberg (* around 1636, † 1689); her mother, his first wife Anna Maria Katharina von Weichs (documented 1661–1665, † 1672).

Maria Sophia had at least five full siblings and another six half siblings from the father's second marriage. Among her full siblings were the two generals Friedrich Ferdinand Bawyr von Frankenberg and Franz Anton Bawyr von Frankenberg .

From 1685 Maria Sophia was canoness. On September 9, 1684, the abbess, prioress, protarator and elderly woman as well as all nuns of St. Cäcilien acknowledge the trousseau received for Maria Sophia. From 1712 to 1737 she was Abbess of St. Cäcilien. Her inauguration as abbess took place on 24/25. September 1712 by the suffragan bishop Johann Werner von Veyder . As abbess she was the landlady in Stommeln , Palmersdorf , Rondorf and Cologne-Marsdorf and donated a Fronhofkreuz in Stommeln in 1725, which can still be found there today and shows the Bawyr family coat of arms. In addition, Maria Sophia was a member of the Imperial Order of Women of the Star Cross .

Maria Sophia was buried in the monastery church of St. Cäcilien. Her grave slab bore the inscription: DOM Reverendissima et Excellentissima Domina D. Maria Sophia de Bawer comes de Franckenberg, Illustris Collegii ad S. Caeciliam Abbatissa confirmata et benedicta, Domina in Rondorf etc., Augustissimo ordini Dominarum stellatae crucis immatriculata aucto rei divinae cultu absoluta fabrica abbatiali restaurata aede S.
