Life

After her musical training in Frankfurt with Heinrich Anton Föppel , Richard Wagner's childhood friend had her first appearances at the Court Theater in Kassel under the conductor and composer Louis Spohr .

Maria Theresia Löw married the hero tenor Karl August Lehmann and became the mother of Lilli Lehmann and Marie Lehmann , both of whom would later also become singers. After separating from her husband around 1853, she took care of their vocal training. In addition to her daughters, she looked after other artists of her era, including at the German State Theater in Prague , where she lived from 1853.

Her uncle (brother of the father) was the ennobled Bavarian government councilor Johannes Loew (1771–1833) from Speyer , whose daughter Amalie Loew (1811–1879) had married Prince Karl Theodor von Wrede .
