Maria Theresia Opladen
Maria Theresia Opladen (* 6. April 1948 in Engelskirchen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and lawyer for administrative law . She is a daughter of the former Federal Minister of the Interior, Paul Lücke .
After graduating from high school in 1966, Opladen studied law and political science at the universities of Bonn and Tübingen from 1966 to 1972 . Afterwards she worked as an independent lawyer.
From 1982 to 1994 Opladen, who has been a member of the CDU since 1969, was a member of the district assembly of the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis , from 1994 she was a city council member and honorary mayor in Bergisch Gladbach . From May 1990 to September 1999 she was a member of the eleventh and twelfth state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia . She moved into the state parliament via a direct mandate (constituency Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis III). She left the state parliament prematurely in 1999 to become full-time mayor of Bergisch Gladbach. At the municipal election in 2004 she succumbed, despite a relative majority in the first ballot in the runoff her rival candidate Klaus Orth from the SPD.
From 2008 to 2017 Opladen was federal chairwoman of the Catholic Women's Community of Germany (kfd).
She is also the state delegate of the CDU NRW.
