Maria Westerhorstmann

Maria Westerhorstmann (born May 27, 1952 in Rietberg ; † February 11, 2012 in Delbrück ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and from 2005 until her death a member of the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

education and profession

After graduating from primary school in 1966, she completed an apprenticeship in rural housekeeping until 1969, and from 1969 to 1970 she attended the agricultural school , housekeeping department. From 1970 to 1972 she worked in her parents' farm. From 1972 she was a co-entrepreneur in her own farm.

Party and public office

From 1993 she was a member of the CDU and since 2001 a member of the District Association Paderborn of small businesses association of the CDU.

From 2002 to 2006 Westerhorstmann was deputy chairwoman of the Paderborn district association of the CDU, from 2006 to 2010 she was its chairman.

From 2003 to 2006 Westerhorstmann was chairwoman of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe district association of the CDU women's union. From 2003 she was a member of the board of the NRW regional association of the CDU Women's Union and a member of the board of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe district association of the CDU.

Westerhorstmann was able to win a direct mandate in the state electoral district of Paderborn I in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2005 . From June 8, 2005, she was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament . In the state elections on May 9, 2010 , she was able to defend her direct mandate in the constituency with over 57 percent of the first votes.

In the Düsseldorf state parliament, Westerhorstmann was the spokesperson for the committee for women's policy. In addition, she was a full member of the Committee on Generations, Family and Integration and the study commission "Chances for Children - Framework Conditions and Control Options". She was also a deputy member of the main committee of the state parliament as well as the petitions committee and the committee for the environment and nature conservation, agriculture and consumer protection.

As a member of the state parliament, Westerhorstmann u. a. Member of the Advisory Board of the Westphalian Agriculture Foundation and member of the Broadcasting Council of West German Broadcasting .

Maria Westerhorstmann was married and had three grown children.

At the age of 59 she succumbed to a long history of cancer.
